Stop the Deed Theft

Deed theft of homes is a significant and current crisis in NYC, disproportionately targeting elderly, Black, and brown homeowners in gentrifying neighborhoods, stripping them of generational wealth. Over 3,500 complaints have been filed since 2014. We will have a moderator and panel of experts to speak to the issue educating those in attendance on what deed theft is; who are primarily being targeted; how it affects our neighborhoods; how individuals and families can protect themselves and how communities can pursue restorative justice for those already affected.
