Stop the Hunger Crisis Now

Because of the federal shutdown, millions of New Yorkers are being cut off from their November SNAP benefits—a lifeline that helps families, elders, veterans, and children put food on the table. This preventable crisis is unfolding in real time, and we cannot stay silent.
Here’s how you can help: Pick up the phone and call your federal representatives. Urge them to release emergency funding for SNAP without delay.
Your voice can help turn the tide. Each call is a testimony of faith and justice—declaring that no one in our community should go hungry while leaders debate.

Run, Walk, and Give: Join Riverside’s Turkey Trot for Hunger Relief

As the federal shutdown continues to impact families across New York, millions have lost access to their November SNAP benefits—a lifeline that helps keep food on the table. Our Food Pantry is working tirelessly to meet the growing need, but we cannot do it alone.
That’s why this Saturday’s Turkey Trot 5K & Youth Turkey Dash on at Randall’s Island Park is more important than ever. This fun and family-friendly event will bring together neighbors, friends, and partners for a morning of fitness, fellowship, and faith in action—all to raise critical funds for Riverside’s Food Pantry and Social Services programs.
Each year, these ministries provide food, counseling, housing referrals, and hope to thousands of New Yorkers. Your participation—whether by running, walking, donating, or forming a team—helps ensure that every person in our city has access to daily bread and the dignity of care.
Spread the word! Invite your friends, coworkers, and neighbors to join this community-building fundraiser for an excellent cause. Together, we can turn compassion into action and make sure no one in our community goes hungry.

Save the Date: A Field Trip for Housing Justice- Nov 23

Join us for a special field trip to the Nehemiah Spring Creek Houses in East New York—one of New York City’s most inspiring stories of faith-rooted community organizing and affordable housing.
Developed through decades of persistent organizing by East Brooklyn Congregations (part of Metro IAF), the Nehemiah homes stand as a powerful example of what can happen when churches and local residents unite to demand justice, dignity, and opportunity for working families. Read more about this project here: https://www.cbsnews.com/news/nehemiah-making-the-american-dream-possible-for-first-time-homeowners/
During this visit, participants will:
• Hear from community leaders whose lives have been transformed by the Nehemiah vision.
• Learn how faith communities played a vital role in winning affordable housing and neighborhood renewal.
• See firsthand what long-term, people-powered organizing can build—clean streets, thriving families, and a community shaped by hope and perseverance.
This trip is open to all church members and friends who want to deepen their understanding of housing justice and explore how faith can move us from compassion to collective action.
