Absolute Beginners Biblical Hebrew

Biblical Hebrew is the language in which Jesus read the Scripture and prayed its Psalms. As true followers of our Lord, we also want to know the language of the Hebrew Scriptures (The Tanakh) that formed His unique rhetoric. The Riverside Church offers you a great opportunity to refine your language Hebrew speech and thought about God. We start by learning the Hebrew script, its transcription, vocabulary, grammatical rules, and basic syntax. These will be demonstrated in various verses from the Old Testament (Tanakh). The class is open for absolute beginners with no knowledge of Biblical Hebrew.

The Seekers Book Study

The Seekers is a study group that explores spirituality through books and videos by progressive theologians. As Carl Jung observed, many outgrow the childhood image of God as being ‘up there’ in heaven. This class offers new ways to understand the divine that resonate with a more mature faith. This year, we will explore the video series Living the Questions: The Wisdom of Progressive Christianity.

Sundays, September 28 – June 14 | 9:00 AM – 10:15 AM | MLK 323 and Zoom
Please note there will be no class on the following Sundays: 11/2, 12/28, 1/4, 2/8, 4/5, and 5/24.

Adult Confirmation

This class invites you into a thoughtful and intentional exploration of your faith journey. Together, we will reflect on the meaning of confirmation, asking not only what are we confirming? but also how does this commitment shape the way we live out our faith each day? Through study, prayer, and conversation, participants will deepen their understanding of Christian tradition, engage with scripture and theology, and discover how their personal experiences connect to the larger story of faith.

Whether you are preparing for confirmation, seeking to renew your commitment, or simply longing to grow more deeply in your spiritual life, this class offers space for reflection, learning, and community.
