“Seek the welfare of the city… for in its welfare you will find your welfare.”

Jeremiah speaks these words to a people living with uncertainty, pressure, and fear. They are tempted to turn inward, to protect only what is theirs. Instead, God calls them to widen their concern, to seek the well-being of the whole city. Not someday. Not when things calm down. Now.

Today, our city trembles as immigrants are targeted and allies are attacked. Fear whispers that safety comes from distance, silence, and retreat. Scripture tells a different story. Our safety is braided together. When immigrants are safe, neighbors are safer. When families are protected, blocks are stronger. When trust replaces terror, the city steadies.

We are not called to panic. We are called to plant ourselves deeper in community. To know our neighbors’ names. To organize our blocks. To watch out for one another. To build faithful resistance.

Seek the welfare of the city. Our lives depend on it.

Support NY4ALL for a safer NYC for Immigrants

NY4ALL is the most comprehensive piece of legislation on immigration in front of our representatives in the State Capitol. With a few calls today, you can amplify the voices of advocates who journeyed to Albany. Using the Call Script below, call state leadership (Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins & Speaker of the Assembly Carl Heastie) and your local rep.

Sample Script (please feel free to edit and personalize):

Hello, my name is XXX, and I live in [Zip Code/City/Neighborhood]. On a daily basis, we are seeing the devastating impact of ICE’s actions on communities not only in New York, but around the country. I’m calling to inform the Speaker / Majority Leader / Senator / Assembly member of my support of the New York for All Act and I hope that they will continue to join us in the fight for the protection of immigrant New Yorkers.

Our communities cannot wait any longer to stop local authorities from conspiring with immigration enforcement. New York for All will help immigrant New Yorkers lead their lives without fear and protect our local and state resources from being used to further ICE’s recorded history of abuse and neglect.

State of the State Address

Yesterday, Governor Kathy Hochul delivered her annual State of the State Address. As we prepare to advocate for ourselves and our neighbors in need, we invite you to listen and learn about how current priorities shape our communities, from housing and healthcare to safety and climate, to help equip us to organize wisely, speak clearly, and act faithfully. Let’s be prepared to use our voices so our advocacy reflects both informed conviction and deep love for those most impacted by public policy:
