Bearing Witness (John 1:5)
“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overcome it.” (John 1:5)
Throughout Scripture, God raises up witnesses who tell the truth, even when powerful voices seek to suppress it. To remember those who have died, to speak their names, and to preserve their stories is an act of hope that resists the erasure of human dignity. As followers of Christ, we are called not to turn away from suffering, but to bear faithful witness to the truth, trusting that God’s light continues to shine even in the deepest darkness.
Honoring the Journalists and Children of Gaza

Join us for an evening of remembrance, witness, and solidarity as Writers Against the War on Gaza, the Palestinian Youth Movement, and the Palestinian Feminist Collective honor the life of Palestinian journalist Anas al-Sharif and his colleagues who were killed while documenting the realities of life in Gaza.
Through reflections from colleagues, mentors, and friends, we will remember the courage of Gaza’s journalists and explore the vital role they have played in bearing witness throughout the ongoing violence. The evening will also mark the launch of The Living Record, an oral archive featuring more than 50 eulogies from journalists across Gaza, preserving the stories of those lost and the resilience of those who continue their work.

Participants will also have the opportunity to contribute to the Shroud Project, a moving memorial honoring children killed in Gaza by writing their names on a commemorative shroud. Led by Justice For All, Priests Against Genocide, Doctors Against Genocide, and partner organizations, the completed shroud will be displayed in Washington, DC, this September, with additional events planned in New York City during the UN General Assembly.
