Building Community Support for Mental Health Services

For more than nine years, Manhattan Together and Metro IAF have worked to improve the quality of mental healthcare across New York City.

Most recently, this organizing effort helped secure commitments from the Mamdani Administration to open 10 new crisis stabilization centers—two in each borough—and complete a mental health services study to better understand how existing resources are being used and identify gaps that need to be addressed.

The next critical step is building broad community support for accessible mental health services throughout the city.
