Earth Day Cosmic Walk

April 19 @ 12:30 pm - 2:30 pm

If you have kids, grandkids, nieces, or nephews, here’s a fun chance for them to share their creativity! 🎨

We’re inviting children to make artwork about Environmental Care—this could be things like clean energy, recycling, oceans, nature, or a green neighborhood.

Make sure each artwork includes:
• Child’s name
• Age
• City, State, Country

Take a picture of the artwork and email it to canastoclachi@gmail.com with the subject “Children Arts.”

Deadline: April 16, 2026

Selected artwork will be printed and displayed near the Cosmic Walk next Sunday in South Hall as part of the Beloved Earth Community 🌍✨

The Cosmic Walk is a contemplative ritual created by Dominican Sr. Miriam MacGillis of Genesis Farm in New Jersey. Inspired by scholar and author Thomas Berry, the Walk portrays the 14-billion-year story of the universe — from the Big Bang to the present day.

Participants move slowly along a 140-foot spiral path laid out on the floor. Along the way, they pause at points marked by an electric candle and a sign describing a significant moment in the unfolding of the universe. Larger written reflections are available for individuals to read quietly at their own pace — no designated readers are needed.

The Cosmic Walk will take place immediately following the service. It is a powerful way to bring awareness of the created universe from our heads into our hearts. The experience often includes a reading from the Gospel of John, Chapter 1.
