The life and writings of Bonhoeffer still strike many Christians worldwide as a challenge to faithful discipleship in the midst of corrupt politics, the temptations of violence, and the weak witness of churches to the teachings of Jesus. This study will explore Bonhoeffer’s life as a theologian, pastor, protester against Nazism, ecumenical church leader, and martyr. His life and witness continue to exemplify the call of Christians to pay the “costs of discipleship.”
