Sunday, May 12:
Brahms Requiem

On Mother’s Day, The Riverside Choir offers A German Requiem – one of the great masterworks of the choral and orchestral literature – initially composed by Johannes Brahms as a response to the death of his dear friend, the composer Robert Schumann. Brahms’ universal message of solace, comfort and hope, composed as a personal musical memorial dedicated to his mother, uses biblical texts different from those found in the traditional Latin Requiem. A festive fundraising brunch celebrating the nurturing ones in our lives will precede the concert at 12:30 p.m.
