Riverside Weekly Actions | October 22, 2026

I can’t do everything but I can do one thing

Aida Montero and I joined a rally together with our partners from the National Iranian American Council, Action Corp, Brooklyn for Peace, Code Pink and more, for a national action to demand Representative Hakeem Jeffries cut funding for the Iran War. We also demanded an investigation into civilian casualties, including the bombing of an elementary school in Minab which killed 123 children. We joined 90+ organizations for this action which took place outside 35+ congressional offices across the US.

It’s all so much. The loss of lives continue to multiply. The cries are getting louder. The weight of injustice feels unbearable. It’s all just so much.
There is too much to do.

We are two people whose power joined with thousands across the country

We never do this work alone. We’re always showing up in coalition. We’re always showing up where we can. Sometimes it’s to show up to be informed, sometimes it’s to show up to train, sometimes it’s to show up to march, sometimes it’s to give what we can and sometimes it’s to show up in community so everyone knows that they do not walk alone.

You do not have to do everything, but like Aida, you can do one thing.

The Riverside Church Second Annual Riverside Turkey Trot 5K, Saturday Nov 7th

Join us on Randall’s Island as we bring our community together for a fun, active, and meaningful way to support our neighbors.

Building on last year’s success, the Turkey Trot raises critical funds for The Riverside Church’s Social Services programs. The need has never been greater: rising utility and rent costs, combined with cuts to social safety nets, have driven more people than ever to our food pantry. Every registration, sponsorship, and donation helps provide food, clothing, housing assistance, and emergency financial aid across New York City.
