Riverside Receives Generous Donation of 260 Suits for Clothing Distribution Program
The Riverside Church received a donation of 260 suits for the Clothing Distribution Program. This donation was made by Hudson Yards/ Related management on Veterans Day. The donation was facilitated by Rev. Dr. Debra Northern, Reyita Rodriguez, Sally Williams, Karen Diggs of Grant Associates and Riverside Member and Sid Dinsay, Lauren Garriott – Related Companies.
“We made it a priority to donate our stock of gently used clothing items, including 100-plus suits, to a program that would ensure they went to people who needed them most. Through our long-term partnership with Grant Associates, we were connected to The Riverside Church and the amazing Rev. Dr. Northern, who then put us in touch with her team to coordinate the donation. At the drop-off on a chilly Friday morning, we met with Karen and others from Riverside and helped move racks and racks of suits, pants, jackets, and other items into the basement. “A suit is dignity,” Karen said, adding that the inability to procure them is all too often a barrier to employment. Those words, more than anything, encapsulate why we do what we do: we have the resources to help, and when we can, we will. Thanks so much to Karen, Rev. Northern, and The Riverside Church for allowing us the privilege of helping, and we cannot wait to hear some of the success stories that are helped along by our donation.” Sid Dinsay, Hudson Yards
“I will say that Grant Associates (one of the largest workforce development organizations in North America) has a longstanding relationship with The Riverside Church in the City of New York. During the eight years we have worked together under the direction of Rev. Dr. Deborah Northern, over 300 individuals seeking employment have received professional attire. Our relationship has deepened through volunteer opportunities and most recently CTE youth interns with the Riverside Hawks.” Karen Diggs, Grant Associates & Riverside Member
