Returning to In-Person Worship & Homecoming
Ever since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, Riverside’s top priority has been the health and safety of our entire community: congregation members and staff, tenants, visitors, and guests. As safety measures and increased vaccinations continue to bring tremendous progress in the fight against COVID, we are excited to share re-opening plans for in-person worship this Fall.
Mark your calendars for Homecoming
Our official public Grand Re-Opening for in-person worship is Homecoming Sunday, September 19. We hope you will make plans to join us for what will be a heartfelt day full of worship, fellowship, and joy!
More details about Homecoming plans will be shared in the coming weeks and months.
Help Us Prepare for In-Person Worship
Prior to Homecoming, following a short series of worship services with attendance limited to our lay leaders, we are soft-launching in-person worship beginning on Sunday, August 8, and lasting through Homecoming Sunday. These services will be available in-person and open to all. The complete schedule is as follows:
• Sunday, August 8
• Sunday, August 15
• Sunday, August 22
• Sunday, August 29
• Sunday, September 5
• Sunday, September 12
These six weeks will allow us to practice the ways we gather for worship in-person, our safety protocols, staff and lay leader roles, and the integration of new technology for a more accessible and engaging hybrid worship service. By joining us for worship during these weeks you will be helping us make sure everything is ready for a smooth and successful grand re-opening on Homecoming Sunday.
Following guidance and best practices from the Governor, Mayor, Department of Health, the CDC, and peer churches, face masks and social distancing will be required in all public areas of the church, including in the Nave for worship. We ask you honor our safety protocols and any instructions from Riverside Clergy, Staff, and Security while at Riverside. Riverside is more than a church – we host many individuals currently ineligible for vaccination, including children of all ages via our Weekday School, Riverside Hawks, and youth programs. We are also a gathering place for older adults and other vulnerable populations.
And for those who aren’t quite ready to, or simply can’t, join us in-person yet, we invite you to continue worshipping with us online each Sunday at 10:45 a.m. ET.
