Freedom Ride

A national interfaith delegation of faith leaders, activists, and community organizers will launch the “Freedom Ride in Defense of Democratic Rights” from Newark, New Jersey on Sunday, June 8, traveling to Jena, Louisiana to shine a light on attacks against immigrants, democratic institutions, and the criminalization of dissent.

This effort is convened by IFCO/Pastors for Peace, The Riverside Church, The People’s Forum, and the Interfaith Center of New York.

The Freedom Ride will include a multi-day and city journey culminating in pastoral visits to detainees at the Jena ICE Detention Center. Along the way, the Caravan will lift up community struggles, visit impacted sites, and build solidarity across faiths and movements.

Key Demands Include:

• An end to detention and deportation
• Permanent protections for undocumented communities
