In this book, "Without Buddha I Could not be a Christian," he answers "Do I really believe what I say I believe, or what I'm supposed to believe as a member of the Christian community." He has found that he is a better Christian blending in key thought from Buddhism. One concern is that social justice gains dating back over a century can be lost. Another is that fundamentalist theology might come to define American Christianity. Even more serious is the concern that fundamentalist evangelicalism might ultimately result in a mass exodus of younger generations from churches as we know them today. Based on the above concerns, the Riverside Church of New York believes that there is a need for a forum whereby such concerns can be explored, particularly with theological reflective lenses. Therefore, “Exploring and Reclaiming Progressive Christianity” is scheduled to launch in October of 2022. Typically, the sessions are guided by themes; however, programs of individual favorites have been scheduled simply for enjoyment and/or discussion. Invited poets have engaged the group in sessions of writing and sharing of inspired outcomes. When time allowed, the group engaged in both discussion of themed offerings as well as writing from prompts. Attendance has ranged from 9 to 16 and sessions have been examples of wonderful fellowship with members providing LocationN/A Time1:00pm - 2:30pm Intermediate Biblical HebrewIntermediate Biblical HebrewDuring the course, students will focus on reading biblical texts and using lexicons and grammar tools to understand and translate the Biblical Hebrew verbal tense system.
