Zero Waste All-Church Bible Study

March 1 @ 9:30 am - 10:30 am

|Recurring Event (See all)

An event every week that begins at 9:30am on Sunday, repeating until March 8, 2020

South Hall

Riverside’s Zero Waste initiative, approved unanimously by our Church Council, will be visible at the All-Church Bible Study February 2 – March 8.  Volunteers will offer coaching on how to separate compostables from recyclables, and on what gets discarded in the “brown bins.”

Our food waste and other compostables will get picked up by NYC Sanitation and taken to sites where they will be processed into fertilizer and biofuel.  In contrast, if taken to landfills, organic matter produces methane, a major source of global warming.

Implementing Zero Waste at Riverside is part of caring for God’s creation, and gives us credibility when we advocate for policies and practices to address the climate crisis.
