This service is a culmination of Min. Charlene A. Wingate’s ministerial call to ordained ministry. It’s a celebration in preparation for the next phase of the journey God has ordained just for her. Join us as we celebrate this momentous occasion!
Minister Charlene A. Wingate serves as the Support Minister for Worship and Arts at The Riverside Church of New York. With over two decades of experience in the field of Education, she finds joy in applying her studies of Music, Religious Education, Restorative Practices and Equity to the design of liturgy for inclusive worship services.
Employed primarily as a Restorative Practice Equity Student Support Leader and Music Educator in the New York City public schools, she is also an Adjunct Professor of various courses for the Certificate Program at New York Theological Seminary. In her free time, she serves at Riverside as the Chairperson of the Adult Christian Education Committee, consultant to the Education Commission, overseer of the Open Bible Study (OBS) small group, producer of Riverside’s Fresh Start early morning service, as well as engaging in the life of Riverside’s worship ministry as a worship leader, liturgist, and guest preacher. She holds a Master’s of Arts in Music and Music Education from Teacher’s College, Columbia University, Master’s of Divinity and Master’s of Religious Education from New York Theological Seminary and a Master’s of Education in Progressive Leadership from Bank Street College of Education.
