1619-2019: A Timeline of Inequality

October 17 @ 6:30 pm - 7:00 pm

9T

The 400 Years of Inequality Initiative is a diverse coalition of organizations and individuals committed to observing the anniversary of the arrival in 1619 of the first Africans to be sold into bondage on the North American continent. The systemic violence of settler colonialism and chattel slavery has embedded inequality in the very foundations of the United States. There is now also a multigenerational history of resistance to and direct dismantling of systems of inequality. Join representatives of the 400 Years of Inequality initiative to 1) Review historical efforts to either entrench or resist inequality; and, 2) Explore the impact of this history on our lives and the wellbeing of our families and communities.
