Social Media Manager (Remote)
FIRE: Spreading Multivocal Expressions of Faith
Part-Time (Approximately 16 hours per week) | Five-Year Grant-Funded Position

Compensation: $45/hour

Location: Mostly Remote (U.S.). Preference given to candidates based in the NYC/Tri-State area or San Francisco Bay Area. Two in-person gatherings each year are required, travel expenses will be covered.
About the Role
Join an inspired creative storytelling and media team to build and grow a new multimedia platform from the ground up. This is an exciting opportunity to shape FIRE’s social presence, establish its voice, build an engaged community and amplify stories that reclaim and reimagine the Christian narrative through authentic, multivocal storytelling.
Working closely with the Project Director and creative storytelling team, you’ll own and execute FIRE’s organic social media strategy, helping expand our reach across faith-based and secular audiences while continuously testing, learning and refining new approaches to community growth and engagement.
Approximately 16 hours per week with a flexible schedule. Occasional evening or weekend availability may be required during live events, campaigns, or special programming.

Responsibilities
● Own and execute FIRE’s organic social media strategy across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Facebook, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
● Help establish FIRE’s brand and build an engaged, multigenerational online community from the ground up.
● Develop, create, schedule and publish compelling written, visual, and video content optimized for each platform.
● Collaborate with the creative storytelling team to adapt multimedia assets into engaging, platform-specific social content while creating original social-first content where appropriate.
● Build and execute creative social media campaigns designed to increase organic reach, engagement, and audience growth across both faith-based and secular communities.
● Establish and maintain a consistent content calendar, using platform best practices for posting cadence, video length, and timing while adapting to evolving platform algorithms and audience trends.
● Actively engage with the FIRE community by responding to comments, fostering meaningful conversations, encouraging authentic participation, and maintaining a welcoming and inclusive online environment.
● Identify opportunities to amplify community voices and spotlight participant stories that align with FIRE’s mission, helping elevate diverse expressions of faith through social storytelling.
● Monitor platform performance using analytics and prepare monthly performance reports with insights and recommendations to continuously refine content strategy.
● Stay ahead of emerging platform features, creator trends, and cultural conversations, bringing fresh ideas and identifying opportunities for timely, mission-aligned content.

● Use analytics and performance insights to continuously optimize content strategy and improve results.
● Successfully amplify participant stories and expand FIRE’s reach through engaging social storytelling.
Required Qualifications
● 3+ years of experience managing multi-platform social media for a creative organization or brand.
● Demonstrated success growing and engaging online audiences through organic social media strategies.
● Strong understanding of current social platforms, algorithms, trends, and best practices for organic publishing.
● Experience developing engaging social-first content, including copywriting, graphics, short-form video, and platform-native storytelling.
● Experience collecting, interpreting, and presenting social media analytics to inform strategy.
● Demonstrated sound judgment when engaging with online communities and moderating conversations.
● Ability to manage a consistent part-time schedule while working independently in a remote environment.
● Ability to create social media content, including video clips, cutdowns, graphics, and other platform-specific assets.
Preferred Qualifications
● Experience working with nonprofit, mission-driven, or faith-based organizations.
● Familiarity with faith-based creators and digital storytelling communities.
● Experience engaging multigenerational audiences.
● Interest in documentary-style visual storytelling and multimedia content.
● Experience shooting social-first content and creating visual content.
● Experience using tools such as Meta Business Suite, Canva, CapCut, Google Analytics, Later, or similar social media management platforms.
