The Riverside Church cares about children and families. We believe that children are an integral part of our community and our worship. Every Sunday children can expect to be engaged in worship that meets their needs at every age and stage.
On Communion Sundays, we worship together with our families at 10:45 a.m. in the Nave. The Riverside Church recognizes the value of experiencing this sacred time in family units and we encourage families to attend together and sit together. This time can be challenging for young people. Parents should feel comfortable taking children to the bathroom, engaging children in the pews with paper and pencils, and whispering thoughts and answering questions during the service. Is your child feeling restless? Take a quick walk through the lobby and come back when you are ready to sit. Do what you need to do to help your children feel welcome and safe in our Nave.
On other Sundays, at 10:30 a.m., our excellent children’s ministry team provides an engaging and exciting time of worship and praise. Preschoolers and kindergartners meet on the 6th floor and 1st graders through sixth graders meet on the 4th floor of the MLK wing. Children begin the hour with grade level Sunday School groups, taught by our team of volunteers. They conclude the hour with a worship service, designed especially for their needs and abilities.
Preschool classes remain open on the 6th floor on Communion Sundays.
Our nursery is open for children two and under. It is located on the Cloister level.
